LOVE, LOVE, LOVE doing Maysie's hair, I'm so very glad we don't have a bald baby girl! I wish I would have had the video camera instead at this moment because Maysie was flipping her dress up and flashing Danner which she thought was hilarious and he was just confused.

Chickies!

Yay! Another life-long dream realized! We brought our six little Brahma chicks home yesterday. They are so cute! They all have little feathers on their feet except for the two darkest ones, so I'm wondering if those two are even Brahmas, since that's kind of a breed specification. Whatever they are they're cute so we'll keep them. Mark worked really hard to convert the dog kennel into a suitable, predator proof sanctuary for my babies. We should start getting eggs in about six months! Maysie really liked the chicks, she pet them softly with my help and didn't even poke any of their eyes out(eyes are really intriguing lately). Scout on the other hand was deathly afraid of the harmless little critters. You can see his eyes bugging out of his head in the picture where I made him lay with the chick sitting on his back. He was curious but freaked out any time they moved (some bird dog!) I am hopeful that I'll be able to let them out of thier coop when they get big enough. Especially now that I know Scout's too afraid of them to eat them! Ha Ha. No, he'll get used to them just like he got used to the kitten, sometimes I think he's afraid of little animals because he's worried he'll get in trouble if he hurts them. Which is probably a good thing!

Our Little Patriots

I had almost forgotten how much more difficult it is to photograph two moving objects instead of just one! But, I ended up getting a few good ones. Maysie is wearing one of the cute 4th of July outfits my mom made for our nieces and just looked so patriotic that I couldn't help but take some pictures, and Scout with his red collar just fit right in. I waited til the last few shots to give Maysie the flag, since it was Oma's flag and I was a little afraid it may not survive an entire photo shoot. She was totally mesmerized by it and didn't wave it around like I had hoped she would, but she did chew on it a little and although chewing on the flag is probably against the flag code it was oh so cute!!

Staying Cool

Auntie Caitie was nice enough to invite us to swim in the pool at her apartment complex the other day when it was like 110 degrees outside! Maysie got super excited as soon as she saw it and started saying "WOW"! She wasn't afraid at all and splashed and kicked and put her face under water(mostly on accident but she didn't mind) She loved the little starfish floatie Cait got her and kept giving it kisses or chewing on it, I'm not sure which. I like this last pic, all she needs is a little umbrella sticking out of her sippie cup.

Ok, so it was the next week with the standing up instead of the next day. She thinks she's pretty big stuff now! I'm kind of thankful we have a small house right now or I'm afraid I'd be losing her on a regular basis.
