When we go to visit Great Grama and Grampa Varozza Maysie likes to go down to their bedroom where all Grama's stuffed animals are. She carries them around and gives them all kisses. Grama loves her little Maysie, I just missed her smile when she was sitting with Grama in the rocking chair but it's still a cute picture. Maysie is still warming up to Grampa and won't let him hold her but he can now talk to her without making her cry:) Someday she'll realize how cool Grampa's are.
We went up to the snow for Austin's 7th birthday party. Maysie loved the snow, except for not being able to walk very well and had fun sledding down the hills. My mom and dad and sister came with us too, since we probably wouldn't get another chance to go to the snow while they were in town. I'm not sure how I managed to not get a picture of the birthday boy but he was very busy running around with his friends:)
On Christmas day one of my Golden Laced Wyandottes laid her first egg! This was very exciting for me as I had been patiently waiting for my hens to start laying for almost six months:) I could tell it was her (the black and gold one in the picture) because her comb was especially red instead of just pink like the other hens. Big Foot, my rooster has been on very good behavior since he pecked my hens comb until it bled a month ago and I threatened to feed him to the coyotes. He is very handsome. My little egg looks kinda puny next to the Grade A Extra Large eggs from the store but it is so beautiful. I even used it right away to bake this apple pie for Christmas dessert!
Maysie loved having her Granna and Papa in town! Our Christmas day was sunny and beautiful so we got to go outside and play.
Everyone had a great Christmas in our family this year. Maysie was spoiled with dollies and blocks and even a moses basket for her dollies. Mommy was spoiled with a new set of pots and pans in a beautiful red enamled finish and a new quilt for the bed, which you can see under Scout and his duck. Daddy was spoiled with some new clothes and a sleek Kershaw knife along with some other things he bought for his truck. Even Scout and Danner enjoyed their presents, you can see Danner saying "Thank You" in one of the pictures:) We had a few minor meltdowns that I couldn't help but take pictures of but all in all we were a pretty happy bunch.
We had a wonderful Christmas. Almost the entire family was in town at the same time, which is not an easy thing to accomplish! Maysie had tons of fun playing with her cousins and hanging out with Granna and Papa who were visiting from Montana. We did some Christmas shopping in down town Placerville, did some baking, and just waited for Santa to come like Maysie is doing in the top picture.
On December 19th 2009 we were blessed with the opportunity to take our Maysie to the Sacramento Temple. It was the most amazing day. Maysie was just a doll in her beautiful white gown; she was very sweet and happy for the sealing and all of the pictures that followed. Sarah was once again our super photographer and captured the joy and sweet spirit that was there with us on that special day. The picture of Maysie looking up at the Temple holding her little purple balloon is just priceless!
